Site version description:

The site is located in the Foeni orthodox cemetery, in the north-western limit of the city. The research took place between 1991 and 2007, and reported mainly prehistoric
discoveries (from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages). In the excavations of 1991–1994, 1995–1998 and 2001–2002, the archaeologists (from Banat Museum
Timişoara and the Institute of Archaeology and Art History, Cluj-Napoca) discovered 18 inhumations graves characteristic of the Sarmatian population. The graves appear to be only a small part of a bigger necropolis, largely destroyed by current orthodox cemetery. All the funerary complexes are inhumation graves, and there are no recorded cases of superposition, interlocking or double graves. |
